In Windows 8, you can set one of two versions of Internet Explorer as your default. Having both available and starting in different scenarios can be confusing. It is best to give both a try, decide which you like best, and set that one as your default.

If you choose Always In Internet Explorer, the Internet Explorer app will always be used to open links on your Start screen or in the applications you use.
However, the Internet Explorer shortcut on the Desktop will continue to open the Internet Explorer desktop application. All the other shortcuts and links will open the Internet Explorer app.
