The appearance of the desktop is a bit more customizable thanthe Start screen, allowing you to select preset themes or evensave your own themes based on your choice of backgroundand color. Themes apply several personalization settings atonce, which means that changing the look of your desktop isquicker and easier in Windows 8.
Choose a Theme1 Display the desktop.2 Right-click the desktop, and choosePersonalize.3 Click a theme to preview it.4 Click the Close button.
You can get more themes on the Internet. Withthe Personalization window shown in step 3displayed, click Get More Themes Online. TheWindows 8 Themes webpage opens in yourbrowser. Use the theme categories or searchfeature to find a theme you like, and then clickSave to download and save the theme. Thetheme isnow available through the Personalizationwindow of the Control Panel.
You can save your own themes. Under the category ofMy Themes, whatever theme you are using, including anychanges you have made to it, appears as Unsaved Theme.If you want to save that theme, click it and then click SaveTheme. In the dialog box that appears, give the theme aname and then click Save.
